You can find a contractor in your area using our lookup: www.GreenON.ca/find-a-contractor with new contractors being added daily. If you do not yet see a contractor in your area, sign up to receive an email alert once a contractor is available.
If you have a contractor in mind that is not currently participating in the program, please encourage him or her to register at www.GreenON.ca/contractor-signup.
Under the GreenON Rebates program, all services (including purchase and installation) must be performed by a participating contractor.
All participating contractors are pre-qualified and can provide guidance on your options. They are vetted through various eligibility requirements including providing background information about the company, business registration, appropriate certification to install the products in question, and insurance information. The Green Ontario Fund also provides additional training to ensure that participating contractors are aware of the program requirements, how to process the rebates and install the product according to industry specifications.
There is currently no end date for the GreenON Rebates program. March 31 is tied to the program’s fiscal year end. It is the annual deadline for your contractor to submit application paperwork for installations completed in the previous 12 month period. Your participating contractor will prepare your application on your behalf for your review and approval; speak with your contractor about the application submission process.
After purchase and installation is completed, your participating contractor will prepare your GreenON Rebates application on your behalf. You are then required to validate that the application is accurate and to submit your proof of purchase. Once this is done, your rebate cheque will be mailed to you in approximately 8-12 weeks.
The GreenON Rebates program helps Ontario residents complete low-carbon, energy efficient renovations to their home to help them save money and reduce their carbon footprint. Under the GreenON Rebates program, participants must use a participating contractor to purchase and install eligible products (insulation, windows or heat pumps). Participant applications must include before and after photos of the work completed; no home audits or assessments are required to take part in the program.
Participants are able to take part in the GreenON Rebates program as well as other home energy efficiency programs; however, participants cannot receive an incentive for the same measure under both programs. For instance, a participant cannot receive a window incentive under the GreenON Rebates program if they have already received a window rebate from another home energy efficiency program.
The GreenON Rebates program offers $500 off each eligible high-performance window installed under the program. In order to be eligible for the rebate, the total invoice for the window’s purchase and installation must exceed $500.
Yes, under the GreenON Rebates program eligible windows must be installed brick-to-brick, meaning the whole window frame must be replaced (not just the glass). Sash or unit replacements are not eligible.
IESO (Independent Electricity System Operator), the organization that delivers the program on behalf of the Green Ontario Fund, will collect electricity and natural gas usage data directly from utility companies. This is done to verify and report the greenhouse gas reductions from the program. The data collected by the IESO, for verification purposes, is masked and cannot be directly attributed to any participant. In addition, verified program results are reported collectively and are not specific to any one participant.
The data collected during your home energy review is protected by the privacy FAQs within the GreenON Installations program participant agreement.
The GreenON Installations program helps to fight climate change by helping you to reduce carbon emissions from your home. This section of the participant agreement talks about these carbon savings, also known as environmental attributes. It ensures that the savings from the program are able to be counted and reported by the Green Ontario Fund to the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change. These savings are counted to help track Ontario’s progress in reaching its greenhouse gas reduction goals.
If your thermostat isn’t operating properly in the first few days after installation, please let us know by contacting the call centre at 1-888-728-8444. You can also contact the smart thermostat installer at the number provided to you during your installation appointment. Under the program, there is a one-year service guarantee on installation; however, installation issues are typically evident in the first two to five days after installation.
If your furnace or air conditioner stops working at any time, seek the help of your own service contractor as soon as possible. The most important thing to do is to get your heating or cooling back on. For questions about your smart thermostat, warranty or privacy policies, please contact the manufacturer directly: ecobee.com, nest.com or honeywell.com.
